Product Feedback Request Email Template
Ask for focused feedback on a task someone actually attempted, with an easy reply and no requirement to leave a public review.
When to use this template
Use this after a meaningful interaction when the user can recall a specific task and a short optional question would help improve the workflow.
Choose another approach when: You plan to pressure the recipient into a positive rating, collect unnecessary private data, or ask for feedback on a feature they never used.
Gather these inputs
- The recent task or experience you want to understand.
- One narrow uncertainty that can inform a decision.
- A short response route and a privacy-appropriate note-taking practice.

Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Crany customer result. Replace every example detail with facts you can verify.
Subject: How did your first checklist preview go? After trying the fictional client checklist preview, what did you expect the client to see, and what appeared instead? A sentence or two is enough. If everything worked, tell us what helped; if it did not, describe the confusing step without including private client details. We are asking about the workflow, not requesting a positive review or a testimonial. Sending feedback does not enroll you in another mailing list. The question is specific enough to inform a product decision while leaving room for an experience the founder did not anticipate.
How to use it
- Select an appropriate recent task and remove assumptions about whether it succeeded.
- Ask one question that invites a concrete account rather than a flattering score.
- Review replies for patterns and contradictions before proposing a product or copy change.
Check before using it
- The request is optional and does not gate support or product access.
- Negative feedback is not diverted away from a public review process through a misleading claim.
- Recipients are not asked to email sensitive records.
What to measure
Assess whether replies contain actionable workflow evidence, not just whether a score looks high. Record how the feedback influenced a decision and retain uncertainty when only a small self-selected group responds.
Research and sources
The interview references support concrete accounts of experience, while Mailchimp supports appropriate communication permission. This email is an original feedback request, not a validated satisfaction survey or review-generation system.
