Search Appearance Evidence Review Sheet
Interpret a Search Console appearance category using its actual definition and reporting scope before making claims about rich results or visibility.

When to use this template
Use this when a Search appearance option is available in the property report and you need to understand the page group and period behind it. Preserve the exact category rather than renaming it as a generic AI citation.
Choose another approach when: The category has no recorded evidence, you intend to invent review or product markup to gain it, or a valid schema test is your only delivery evidence.
Gather these inputs
- The exact appearance label and current Google definition.
- Report period, page group, search type and other filters.
- Relevant visible content and markup for the pages being investigated.

Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Crany customer result. Replace every example detail with facts you can verify.
Fictional property has an appearance category recorded for a set of tutorial pages. The reviewer preserves the category's actual label and definition, dates and page filter. The report supports saying that this property recorded that appearance in that period. It does not prove every tutorial received it, every valid markup instance displayed, or an AI assistant recommended the product. One page's markup no longer matches visible content, so the owner requests a scoped correction rather than adding unsupported eligibility claims.
How to use it
- Read the current category definition and save the exact reporting scope.
- Compare the relevant page content with its implemented markup and investigate mismatches.
- Write a bounded finding that separates validation, recorded appearance and business outcomes.
Check before using it
- The category is not relabeled as a different search feature.
- Page-level grouping is retained when interpreting its table.
- No fabricated ratings, availability or testimonials are introduced to pursue appearance.
- Filtered URL clicks are not all represented as clicks on the particular appearance feature.
What to measure
Monitor accurate content/markup correspondence and comparable recorded appearance over time. Treat absent category data as an evidence limit; it does not automatically diagnose a technical failure or prove a competitor received the feature.
Research and sources
Google documents appearance grouping, available categories and the distinction between filtered URL clicks and clicks on the feature itself. This original review separates actual report evidence from schema validity and does not create a generic AI-citation metric.
- Google Search Console: Dimensions and data groupings — checked 2026-10-24. Search appearance categories and page/property grouping; query omissions and canonical attribution limit conclusions.
