When to use this template
Use this when a real eligible video has a native YouTube A/B test report. Preserve the combinations and any interruption before choosing the next publishing action.
Choose another approach when: You only need a thumbnail concept, intend to infer a title-only effect from paired changes, or want to run sequential manual swaps and describe them as the native concurrent test.
Gather these inputs
- The actual video, native test report and test observation date.
- Exact title/thumbnail combinations, test state and any manual edits.
- The displayed result label and the truthful viewer promise each option makes.

Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Crany customer result. Replace every example detail with facts you can verify.
Fictional example: a founder tests three title-and-thumbnail pairs for an invoice tutorial. The report says “Inconclusive”. One pair has a superficially attractive click statistic, but the worksheet preserves the native result and its watch-time objective. The founder chooses an accurate acceptable package without calling it a statistical winner. Because both title and image changed together, the review cannot identify which individual element produced any difference. A teammate later changes the public title during another test. That test is recorded as interrupted rather than merged with the earlier results. No percentages, winners or test outcomes in this example are presented as measurements from a real channel.
How to use it
- Capture the exact native mode, combinations, state and displayed result.
- Interpret the provider objective and record interruptions or coupled changes.
- Choose a truthful publishing action without manufacturing certainty from an inconclusive report.
Check before using it
- Current result labels are used instead of stale labels from an older feature version.
- Watch-time evidence is not renamed as proof of higher product conversions.
- A combined packaging test is not represented as an isolated title or image test.
What to measure
Track reproducible interpretations and corrections after interrupted or inconclusive tests. Any later repeat may face a different audience. A native packaging outcome remains bounded to the tested video and conditions, with no guaranteed recommendation or customer result.
Research and sources
YouTube’s current A/B title-and-thumbnail guide documents watch-time results, current labels and automatic stopping after manual edits. This original reading sheet uses the current canonical guide rather than obsolete thumbnail-only search snippets.
