Beta Feedback Intake Template
Ask beta users for the task, expected result and observed behavior with optional safe evidence, without steering them toward praise.
When to use this template
Use this when beta feedback arrives as “it is confusing” or a feature wish with too little context to investigate.
Choose another approach when: You want to collect passwords or private project contents, require praise for access, or imply that submitting a request guarantees its implementation.
Gather these inputs
- The beta’s supported tasks and current version.
- A private approved feedback destination and data-handling practice.
- An owner who reviews requests and can ask necessary follow-up questions.

Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Crany customer result. Replace every example detail with facts you can verify.
An illustrative beta user wanted to reorder client instructions before sharing a preview. They expected dragging the section heading to work, but the app required a separate reorder action. They completed the task only after searching help. That account gives the team a task, expectation, obstacle and workaround. The form does not ask “How much do you love our intuitive interface?” A screenshot is optional and must be redacted; the user can explain the problem without exposing a client’s project.
How to use it
- Ask about a specific attempted task rather than requesting a general score alone.
- Collect only the evidence needed to understand or reproduce the behavior.
- Review feedback, separate observations from proposed solutions and follow up only with permission.
Check before using it
- Questions do not assume satisfaction or a particular feature solution.
- Sensitive data is explicitly excluded.
- Feature requests remain requests until a real product decision is made.
What to measure
Track reports with enough context to investigate and the tasks affected. Frequent requests can guide research but do not automatically represent the whole audience or validate a roadmap priority.
Research and sources
The sources support concrete task stories and observing actual behavior. The intake wording is original and is not a standardized satisfaction instrument.
