When to use this template
Use this when writing an About page, founder introduction or launch narrative and you have real events to explain why the business exists. Distinguish documented history from personal recollection and present-day ambition.
Choose another approach when: You need a dramatic story but have no supporting events, intend to turn a composite into a real customer, or want to imply that the founder’s experience proves every buyer has the same problem.
Gather these inputs
- A founder-approved account of the actual events and motivation.
- Dated records or other support for factual claims, with private details excluded.
- The current product scope, access status and permission for any third-party story.

Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Crany customer result. Replace every example detail with facts you can verify.
Fictional example: a designer remembers repeatedly answering client questions after website handoffs. Their saved project notes support that recurring task, but not an exact number of hours lost. The outline says the experience led them to explore clearer handoff checklists. It avoids “every designer wastes ten hours a week” and does not turn the founder’s recollection into a market statistic. A later prototype note shows when they tried a checklist preview; it is evidence of that prototype, not public availability. The final narrative labels the product as a limited pilot and describes the founder’s next question as an ambition. No real Crany founding event or customer outcome is asserted by this fictional illustration.
How to use it
- Collect actual events and label whether each statement is documented, recalled or aspirational.
- Select events relevant to the reader’s understanding and remove unnecessary private details.
- Have the founder check factual wording and availability before adapting the outline into copy.
Check before using it
- Personal memory is attributed rather than presented as independently verified history.
- Third-party names, quotations and recognizable stories have appropriate permission.
- The ending describes the real current offer rather than inventing traction or a public launch.
What to measure
Check factual corrections, availability misunderstandings and whether readers can explain why the business exists. A coherent story can be reviewed for accuracy and clarity; this worksheet cannot establish trust uplift, customer demand or sales attribution.
