Help Article Feedback Prompt Template
Ask whether a help resource resolved the reader’s task and collect optional safe context for an unresolved issue without demanding praise or private records.
When to use this template
Use this when an existing article may be accurate but the team needs task-specific feedback about missing information or a blocked next step.
Choose another approach when: You want to require a rating before showing the answer, collect credentials or private project data, or interpret a helpfulness vote as verified task completion.
Gather these inputs
- The article’s intended task and actual support scope.
- An optional appropriate feedback route and privacy practice.
- A support destination for issues the feedback form cannot resolve.

Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Crany customer result. Replace every example detail with facts you can verify.
For a fictional article about opening a client preview, a reader selects “Partly” and says the instructions assume they already have a checklist. That comment identifies a missing prerequisite. The article owner reviews it against the actual product flow. Another reader selects “Yes” but provides no task evidence. The team records positive feedback without claiming successful independent completion. Account-specific problems are directed to the real support route, and the optional prompt does not ask readers to paste a private client preview into a public comment.
How to use it
- Tie the prompt to the resource’s actual task and keep participation optional.
- Offer a safe way to explain missing help and a separate support route when needed.
- Review responses in context and verify proposed article corrections.
Check before using it
- Feedback does not block access to the useful answer.
- Private information is neither requested nor needed to leave a response.
- Helpfulness ratings and observed task completion remain distinct measures.
What to measure
Track recurring unresolved questions and verified content improvements. Feedback respondents are self-selected, so their ratings do not represent every reader or prove a causal reduction in support needs.
Research and sources
Task-focused help, contextual questions and clear feedback inform this original prompt. It is not a validated satisfaction survey or an authorization to collect sensitive user information.
