Organic Search Query Review Worksheet
Turn Search Console query observations into a page-specific research question without treating impressions or average position as customer demand proof.

When to use this template
Use this when a Search Console export contains a query related to a real task your page serves. Start with the current page and evidence before deciding to rewrite it or create another URL.
Choose another approach when: You only have imagined keywords, intend to promise a fixed rank from average position, or want to create a separate page for every spelling variation.
Gather these inputs
- A dated property export with search type and filters preserved.
- The relevant query, attributed page and current page content.
- The actual task and available offer the visitor would encounter.
Copy and adapt the template
Edit the text below and copy it into your own document. Edits stay in this browser field and are not submitted or saved by this page.
Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Crany customer result. Replace every example detail with facts you can verify.
Fictional export: a handoff checklist page receives impressions for “website handover checklist”. The reviewer checks the existing page and finds it already covers that task. The page's next action is unclear, so the next step is a comprehension review of that existing resource. The reviewer does not create a second “website handover” page solely to mirror the query. Average position is recorded as a scoped report metric. No claim is made that every searcher saw a particular rank or that impressions establish willingness to buy.
How to use it
- Preserve the report scope and inspect the attributed page before assigning a problem.
- Write the reader task as a hypothesis and list evidence that would challenge it.
- Choose one useful next investigation and prefer improving an existing matching resource when intent overlaps.
Check before using it
- A reported query is distinguished from a validated product opportunity.
- Average position is not presented as a fixed universal rank.
- Creating another page requires a genuinely separate task and deliverable.
What to measure
Review whether the chosen investigation resolved an actual reader problem. Later compare consistent reporting windows and task completion, retaining uncertainty about causation and changes in query mix.
Research and sources
Google defines query and page performance metrics. This original page-level investigation uses an observed query to review an existing resource; it does not equate impressions with market volume, average position with a fixed rank, or an edit with guaranteed improvement.
- Google Search Console: Performance report overview — checked 2026-10-24. Observed query/page clicks, impressions, CTR and average position within selected reporting scope. Not search-volume estimates, universal ranks or proof of customer demand.
