Resource Reader Acceptance Review Template
Check a finished marketing resource against the actual task it promised to help with, using safe inputs and observable reader outcomes.
When to use this template
Use this before publishing a guide, worksheet or tutorial when a spelling check cannot establish whether a reader can actually use it.
Choose another approach when: You want to certify results from internal opinion alone, lead a test reader through every step, or treat a quality review as proof of ranking potential.
Gather these inputs
- The resource’s original reader-task brief and acceptance criteria.
- The finished asset with safe realistic example inputs.
- A relevant reviewer or participant who can assess the task without being taught the answer.

Worked example
Illustrative example, not a Crany customer result. Replace every example detail with facts you can verify.
A fictional free checklist claims to help a designer prepare client instructions. A reader can adapt the step titles but cannot tell what access details the client needs. The review marks that criterion partly met and records the missing prerequisite. The author adds a useful access-preparation prompt and retests the resource. A polished introduction and perfect grammar did not compensate for the missing help. The review also records any assistance so an instructor-guided success is not misreported as independent completion.
How to use it
- Return to the original reader task and observable acceptance criteria.
- Attempt to use the complete resource with safe realistic inputs and record assistance.
- Correct specific gaps and retest before making a bounded release decision.
Check before using it
- An asset exists and can be used beyond reading a promotional introduction.
- The review records actual attempts rather than a vague quality score.
- Untested criteria remain visibly untested.
What to measure
Track criteria met, recurring obstacles and verified corrections. Reader acceptance supports usefulness under tested conditions; it does not predict traffic, adoption or a causal marketing outcome.
